PSHE

Personal Social Health Education (PSHE) is both a subject and a school ethos. It is reflected in our school motto of Safe, Caring and Happy. Throughout the whole school, we promote effective relationships between all members of our school community. We want each pupil to leave the school feeling they can make sense of experiences, whilst finding ways to manage their emotions and feelings.

Every interaction is a PSHE learning opportunity, whether in class or during playtime. These allow pupils to build their personal identities, confidence, and self-esteem and understand what influences their decisions. Developing self-understanding, empathy, and the ability to work with others helps our pupils to build a toolbox of strategies to support challenging situations.

Our Curriculum follows;

  • The Development of self-understanding, empathy, and healthy, productive relationships
  • Relationships Education
  • Eating Healthily
  • Keeping safe on the road
  • How to stay safe on the internet
  • The promotion of good mental health

These are linked alongside both the Zones of Regulation and Trauma Informed Schools approach, which our school adopts. This helps to support pupils to regulate their behaviour and understand their emotions and how this is making both themselves and others feel. The curriculum which is delivered allows pupils to build trusted relationships with their peers and staff, and feel like their opinions matter, and they are valued.
