DofE Expeditions in Full Swing Across Year Groups

Pupils across Years 9 to 11 have been busy taking on their Duke of Edinburgh expeditions this term, with each group rising to the challenge and gaining valuable experience.

Year 9 completed their Bronze expedition near Pease Pottage, learning the ropes of outdoor navigation and teamwork. Despite a damp start, the sun soon returned, and pupils like Scott S and Oscar W shone in their map skills, while others, such as Bradley S, boosted group morale.

Year 10 tackled their Silver practice expedition in the South Downs around Graffham, enjoying sunny conditions and activities like paddleboarding and kayaking. Highlights included a scenic walk led by Jake R and strong personal growth shown by pupils like Ben H.

Year 11 completed their Gold practice, also in the South Downs, with a focus on independence, kit management, and scrambling skills at Harrison’s Rocks. Mr Imbert set high standards to help prepare them for their final assessment in the Lake District.

Both trips were made extra special with a surprise visit from former staff member Mr Rogers and a birthday celebration for Mr Chimombe – a testament to the strong sense of community among pupils and staff.
