Trip to Snowdon
At Muntham, we like to challenge our pupils to help them realise what they are capable of. In September, a group of eleven pupils were challenged to head to Snowdonia to hike up the 1085-metre-tall Mount Snowdon (Yr Wyddfa). Eight pupils had completed the 3 Peaks Challenge in June, so this was the second time they were hiking the second tallest mountain in the UK in the space of 4 months. Counting it towards their Duke of Edinburgh Silver Award, the group equipped themselves to hike up a more secluded section of the mountain to join the Pyg Track to the peak, and they were extremely fortunate to have a hot, sunny, and clear day for it. The views from the top were exceptional: the Welsh coastline, the peaks of Snowdonia and practising fighter jets zooming between the valleys. Afterwards, the group was hungry to do more, so we could not wait to see what other challenges this group of pupils chose to take on. This was also the second Snowdon trip in the last 3 months, with another smaller group reaching the peak in June on another beautiful day! We now have a large group of accomplished mountaineers who have set a fine example for the rest of the school of what success and pride in your achievements look like. A great big well done to Joe T, Jamie W, Eric B, Rio W, Constantine G, Ryan H, Dylan S, Kion S, Charlie S, Kye W, Ben E, Lewis E, Oliver S, Sky L, Oliver C and Alfie G for pushing yourselves to take on this mountainous achievement.
