World Book Day 2017 marked the 20th anniversary of the event; the annual event sees students all over the UK dress as their favourite book characters and receive a book token to choose a book of their own choice.
World Book Day 2017 was a great success at Muntham House School. We were busy in the weeks before, preparing quizzes and deciding which character we wanted to be. Excitement was found in every single student on the day. Student and Teachers alike dressed up and really entered into the spirit of the day. It was fantastic to see the students reading lots of their favourite books as well as being read to. On the day, we managed to rise £31.60 for International Book Aid.
Days like these are very important as evidence shows that children who read for enjoyment every day not only perform better in reading tests than those who don’t, but also develop a broader vocabulary, increased general knowledge and a better understanding of other cultures.
Thank you to all the staff and pupils that helped to make this a fantastic day!
