Engaging Children and Young People in Education and Emotional Wellbeing
It is widely recognised that when therapy is offered within the school day it causes the least disruption to education. The aim in life is to reach our full potential – self actualisation, not only academically but also in our self awareness, self confidence and with an emotional wellbeing.
At Muntham House School we acknowledge that emotional good health and awareness is an important part of becoming a well balanced human being. To allow our students to reach their full potential in education is to acknowledge they are a whole person. When children and young people develop emotionally they are more likely to be successful in an education setting an in life.
The Engage programme is a psychologically informed and therapeutically planned designated environment within the school. Therapeutic interventions are delivered by an eclectic highly skilled and experienced team of professionals. Our involvement is carefully designed to improve children and young peoples, emotional wellbeing while keeping them in education. We are pleased to say we provide the opportunity for our students to have access to different therapies within an environment in which they feel safe.
Our aim is to offer a programme of therapeutic support that will meet the individual emotional and psychological needs of children and young people. We acknowledge and work systemically with all aspects of the child or young person’s life so that they are supported by the key people around them. The team delivers personalised therapeutic programmes to students, based on and to support their individual emotional needs.
The nature of our therapeutic programme is profound while working with all the various teams within the Muntham community including; FIT / education / care staff/ families / carers. We have a good relationship with other schools, colleges and agencies which is crucial in our work supporting children and young people as they face their own personal challenges.
We offer individual and group work as therapeutic interventions depending on individual psychological needs. At assessment if it is felt a different intervention would be more suitable we engage a professional qualified therapist to deliver this.
Systemically working with families and staff member we are able to address all areas of the Child or Young Person’s life.
We are now able to offer this new provision to schools/ agencies/ families to reach and benefit all Children and Young People in the West Sussex area. If you are struggling to understand your child and you would like to know how we can help you please contact us for an initial consultation.
