Much of the national curriculum is taught using projects and the ever popular Curriculum Days. These focus on using and applying mathematics and problem solving. Activities have been run by magicians, the Army, problem solving companies and outdoor centres. Other successful functional skills projects this year have been ‘World Cup Maths’, Natwest Moneywise, catapult and parachute challenges and making packaging. Projects are a fun, engaging way to teach the curriculum that makes maths more real and relevant to the CYPs. They are a regular part of maths teaching at the school.
