On the 24th of September 2015, our Year 10 and 11 GCSE Art students visited the Cass Sculpture Foundation in West Sussex.
We were blessed with brilliant autumn sunshine following a very wet morning and spent the entire day exploring the 26 acre park and 55 sculptures made by well known and less know artists and sculptors.
We looked closely at the works inspired by natural forms, which is our course work project, and discussed what made them natural forms based. Michael, Callum, Joe and Ross were able to touch, sketch and photograph the works that inspired them within their rural setting.
We enjoyed a picnic lunch in amongst a sculpture created from picnic benches. The artist had played around with the scale and the position of the seats which made you feel like a giant or a small child depending where you sat.
A great day was had by all, and I look forward to the work and sculpture that we will be creating very soon.
